Netherlands elected to bowl first after winning the toss and removed Pakistan's top three within the powerplay itself. Fakhar Zaman was out for 12 runs, Imam-ul-Haq was out for 15 of 19. The bigger blow was the wicket of Babar Azam who got out for just five runs.
But after that, in just 114 balls, Mohammed Rizwan as well as Saud Shakeel put up a 120-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Shakeel scored 68 off 52 balls while Rizwan made 68 off 75 balls. Prior to Shadab Khan as well as Mohammad Nawaz scoring 64 runs off 70 balls over the seventh wicket, there was another brief collapse.
Pakistan was ultimately all out for 286 and may have even reached 300 if Nawaz hadn't succumbed to an entirely preventable run out. They made poor shot choices and failed to exert pressure on the Netherlands.
They began by losing three wickets for 23 runs, followed by the following three in a span of 30 runs, and the last four for 34 runs. The Netherlands, who were active on the field in the meanwhile, did a great job of keeping Pakistan within that total.
Pakistan start ODI World Cup 2023 with amazing victory over the Netherlands
Netherlands raced off to a good start after limiting Pakistan to 286. When dealing with anything that was loose, VIkramjit Singh appeared to be quite fluid. Max O'Dowd and Colin Ackermann were unable to add many, but Bas de Leede, the Netherlands' man for every occasion, reappeared.
He and Vikramjit had a good working relationship, and the two of them started setting the groundwork for what they anticipated would be a momentous pursuit. De Leede persisted strongly at one end even as VIkramjit lost his footing while trying to increase the ante. Unfortunately, he began to lose companions on the other end rather soon.
They lost three wickets in no time. This surely placed them under a bit too much strain. De Leede ultimately gave in to a well-made 67. In the end, the Dutch lost the game by 81 runs as a result of no high scoring knock.
