Star Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has been in the headlines for the last couple of days since India won the second and last Test of the two-match series against South Africa in Cape Town. Following that, Rohit’s name attracted the eyeballs when he was picked in India’s T20I squad as skipper for the ongoing three-match T20I series against Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, a lot of former cricketers and the ones who had shared a dressing room with Rohit Sharma came up with a lot of praising remarks for the Indian captain.

In the same line of events, the veteran Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan, who had also been a longtime opening partner of Rohit Sharma in limited-overs cricket, heaped praise on the 36-year-old.

"I seriously give credit for a lot of my performances to Rohit’s support" - Shikhar Dhawan about Rohit Sharma

Dhawan feels that Rohit’s presence at the other end was something that brought up a sense of comfort in the former’s mind while batting on the other end.

“Rohit Sharma and I have formed one of the most successful opening partnerships for the Indian cricket team in limited-overs cricket as per me. My collaboration with Rohit and his support at the other end at the top of the order has been instrumental in providing strong starts to the team, setting the foundation for successful chases and big totals. I seriously give credit for a lot of my performances to Rohit’s support,” said Dhawan to the Times of India during an exclusive interview.

“Rohit on the other end gives that sense of comfort and assurance. We have scored over 6000 runs together, with 19 century stands and 16 half-century stands. I think our best innings was a 193-run opening stand against Australia in the fourth ODI at Mohali in 2019 & the second best will be against Pakistan in the 2018 Asia Cup in Dubai where we put together a 210-run stand for the first wicket,” he added later.
