India Women and England Women took on each other in the third and last T20I of the three-match series at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, December 10. It was a dead rubber as England had already taken an unassailable lead of 2-0 to seal the series. England skipper Heather Knight won the toss and decided to bat first.

Batting first, England's batters struggled against the Indian bowling attack as they lost 5 wickets just within 9 runs and their score went from 67 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 11.1 overs to 76 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 14.3 overs.

However, skipper Heather Knight’s half-century, scoring 52 runs, hitting 3 fours and 3 sixes, alongside wicketkeeper-batter Amy Jones’ 25 runs off 21 balls helped England to post a total of 126 runs, losing all the wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Indian batters went past the English bowling challenge

Star Indian spinners, Shreyanka Patil and Saika Ishaque scalped three wickets each at the cost of just 19 and 22 runs, respectively. Apart from these two, medium pacers, Renuka Singh and Amanjot Kaur picked two wickets each to help India bundle out England at the score of 126 runs.

While chasing the target, star Indian opener Smriti Mandhana played a crucial run-a-ball 48-run knock, with 5 fours and 2 sixes; she also stitched a partnership of 57 runs for the second wicket with number three batter Jemmimah Rodrigues, who scored 29 runs, hitting 4 fours. Meanwhile, India also lost a few wickets in quick succession and at one moment, they were on the score of 116 runs for the loss of 5 wickets.

However, Amanjot Kaur managed to cross the winning line for India, scoring 13 runs off just 4 balls to finish the game, hitting 3 fours in one over. Freya Kemp and Sophie Ecclestone scalped 2 wickets each, alongside one wicket picked by Charlie Dean.
