Apart from being in the top 5 leading run-scorers of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has also made his entry into the list of wicket-takers in the tournament. The special moment came for him in the recently concluded match against the Netherlands when he picked the last wicket of Dutch batter Teja Nidamanuru to finish things and win the match for India.

He also became the first Indian skipper in last years to score a half-century and scalp a wicket in an ODI World Cup match. Rohit bowled five balls of his first over in the second innings against the Netherlands and picked the crucial wicket of Teja Nidamanuru, conceding 7 runs in the 5 balls he bowled.

Apart from picking one wicket for Team India, Rohit also scored a crucial half-century while opening the innings for his side, alongside his young mate Shubman Gill. The 36-year-old scored 61 runs off 54 balls, hitting 8 fours and 2 sixes, setting an amazing tempo for the middle-order of the Indian team.

Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill stitched an amazing partnership of 100 runs for the first wicket, playing a vital role in India’s massive total of 410 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the allotted 50 overs, also supported by the two outstanding centuries scored by Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul, scoring 128 and 102 runs, respectively off just 94 and 64 balls.

Later, India bundled out the Netherlands on the score of 250 runs and won the match by a big margin of 160 runs to remain unbeaten in the nine league matches of their ODI World Cup 2023 campaign.
