Former Indian cricketer now the commentator, Aakash Chopra has come up with a big prediction while speaking about the top-4 teams in the semi-finals of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023. Chopra made this statement after the five-time World Cup Champions Australia completely thrashed the Netherlands by a massive margin of 309 runs.

Notably, Australia and the Netherlands took on each other in the 24th match of the tournament at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Wednesday, October 25. The Aussies posted a huge total of 399 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 50 overs. Later, while defending the target, they bundled out the Dutch side on a very low score of 90 runs to win the match by 309 runs.

Coming back to the statement given by Aakash Chopra, he feels that there are very high chances that the contenders of the top four spots in the tournament will change by the time the tournament progresses.

“Who defeats the opposition by 309 runs in an ODI game? It seems like Australia are back on track. They defeated Pakistan, Sri Lanka before that and the Netherlands now. The defeats they suffered against India and South Africa in their first two games, those wounds have been healed slightly,” said Aakash Chopra in a video on his YouTube channel.

“The other teams might start getting slightly scared of Australia now. There is a strong chance that the top four remain like this only. Changes might happen from fifth to eighth but there might be no change at all in the top four,” he added later.

Apart from this, the former Indian opener also spoke about the target of 400 runs given to the Netherlands by the Aussies. He reckoned that 400 was nearly an impossible target to chase down.

“No matter how good the Netherlands might have played, 400 runs were not going to be scored. I don't think any team will be able to do that. We might not see 400 runs in a chase in this entire tournament,” Chopra said.
