Indian Cricket Board's secretary informed the media about the stance of administrative authorities on not using the fireworks during ODI World Cup 2023.

The Indian Cricket Board has come up with a big statement regarding the fireworks in the stadiums during the ODI World Cup 2023, especially the venues of Delhi and Mumbai. The Board decided not to burst the fireworks in the matches which are set to be played in Delhi and Mumbai considering the concern of pollution level in both cities.

Board secretary Jay Shah came up with a statement clearing the stance of authority on the same. He said that the board has decided against the use of fireworks considering the best interest of fans. 

“Indian Cricket Board is sensitive to environmental concerns. I took up the matter formally with the cricket's governing body and there won't be any fireworks display in Mumbai, which can add to the pollution level. The Board is committed to combating environmental issues and will always place the interest of our fans and stakeholders at the forefront,” said Jay Shah, quoted by ANI.

Furthermore, Shah also informed about his role and action while taking this decision in the favour of the fans and all the stakeholders who are concerned with this issue.

“I took up the matter formally with cricket's governing body and there won't be any fireworks display in Mumbai and Delhi, which can add to the pollution level. The Board is committed to combating environmental issues and will always place the interest of our fans and stakeholders at the forefront,” said Shah to Indian Express.

“The BCCI acknowledges the urgent concern surrounding air quality in both Mumbai and New Delhi. While we strive to host the World Cup in a manner befitting the celebration of cricket, we remain steadfast in our commitment to prioritising the health and safety of all our stakeholders,” he added later.

Speaking of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, almost more than half of the tournament has been played and it has entered into its last three weeks as most of the teams have players 6-7 league matches in the tournament.
