The veteran Australia opener David Warner left everyone shocked as he announced his immediate retirement from ODI cricket. Warner made this announcement just on the first day of the new year 2024 on Monday, 01 January 2024. The New South Welshman appeared in 161 ODIs, scoring 6932 runs, with an impressive average of 45.30.

He scored 22 centuries and 33 half-centuries with the bat with a strike rate of 97.26 since his ODI debut almost 15 years back in 2009 against South Africa in Hobart ODI. He ended his ODI career as the sixth-highest run-scorer for Australia, behind Ricky Ponting, Adam Gilchrist, Mark Waugh, Michael Clarke, and Steve Waugh.
