During the ongoing IPL 2024 auction, the veteran Australian opener David Warner attracted the headlines for his viral Instagram story; in his story, he revealed about getting blocked from the social media handles of his former franchise over both Instagram and micro-blogging site X (formerly Twitter).

It all started after the moment when he wanted to congratulate his teammate and star Australian batter, Travis Head for getting picked by SRH. Notably, another high-profile Australian player bought by the Sunrisers Hyderabad was the World Champion skipper Pat Cummins, who SRH bought for a whopping amount of INR 20.5 crores.

In the same line of events, David Warner wanted to congratulate both his teammates by reposting the social media posts of SRH about the auction, but he couldn’t do the same as he was already blocked by the franchise over social media.

SRH won their only IPL under David Warner's captaincy

Later, the 37-year-old took his Instagram handle to post a story about getting blocked by the very franchise for whom he won the IPL 2016 title as a captain. Notably, Warner played for SRH for seven years across seven seasons of the tournament; after playing 95 matches, the Southpaw scored 4014 runs for SRH, scoring 2 centuries and 40 half-centuries, including a remarkable performance with the bat in the title-winning season 8 years back in the Indian Premier League 2023.

The cricket fans also looked very unhappy with Sunrisers Hyderabad for the way they happened to treat their former title-winning skipper David Warner on social media; currently, Warner is with his national side Australia in the ongoing three-match Test series against Pakistan. It is also the last Test series of David Warner in his career.

He also left a big impact in the first Test against Pakistan at Perth, playing an amazing century-knock, scoring 164 runs in the first innings to help Australia get a big first-innings total of 487 runs.

Here’s how fans reacted to SRH’s move to block David Warner over social media:
