WATCH: Gautam Gambhir settles equation with Virat Kohli on live television

India's star cricketer Virat Kohli’s 50^th ODI century was a moment of joy and celebration for millions of cricket fans all across the globe. Kohli broke Sachin Tendulkar’s 49th-century record and became the first-ever batter to reach the milestone of 50 ODI centuries. Speaking about this historic moment, the former India opener Gautam Gambhir responded to a question about this moment.

After this response, the legendary Indian batter has gained widespread attention on all the social media channels but this time for positive reasons. The IPL 2023 clash between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), where Gambhir served as LSG's mentor, marked another heated exchange between the two cricketing legends. This intense moment wasn't the first spat between Gambhir and Kohli, as a similar incident occurred during the IPL 2013 match between RCB and KKR.

In the viral clip, Gambhir was asked on Star Sports, "Against which bowler did Virat Kohli score his 50th ODI hundred?". The former India left-hand batter responded quite confidently that Kohli's 50th hundred came off New Zealand pacer Lockie Ferguson's delivery. His fellow expert, Piyush Chawla was also left impressed with the reply. Gambhir was visibly pleased with his recollection of thought and went on to admit that his fight with Virat Kohli was limited to just the field.

"Please show this clip again and again. I remember everything. My fight is only on the field," Gambhir said.

Gambhir and Kohli have had mixed past experiences

The talismanic India batter accomplished this milestone in the World Cup semi-final against New Zealand at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium. Kohli and Gambhir were teammates in both the Indian cricket team and Delhi's Ranji team, forming several significant partnerships, including the one in the 2011 final against Sri Lanka. It's worth noting that Kohli secured his first ODI century with Gambhir as his batting partner.

Even though Gambhir was honoured with the Player of the Match award for his century, he graciously passed it on to Kohli, a gesture widely applauded. Gambhir's touching acknowledgement of Kohli's accomplishment occurred during a conversation about India's 3rd ODI against South Africa. India's batting maestro is set to return to the field in the Boxing Day Test match against South Africa at Centurion.
