After winning the only Test against England, the Indian team were up for the Australian challenge. Australia adopted a potent short-ball strategy which was primarily executed by Annabel Sutherland that led to early dismissals of Indian batters Deepti Sharma and Pooja Vastrakar on the third morning. The Indian innings concluded swiftly on day three, leading by 187 runs. Despite a promising start from openers Beth Mooney and Phoebe Litchfield, Mooney's peculiar run-out and Litchfield's unnecessary reverse sweep before Lunch brought setbacks to Australia.

Β But the spotlight was stolen by Richa Ghosh and her brilliant runout. The incident occurred in the 12th over of the third innings during the one-off Test match between India and Australia at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Beth Mooney, after blocking a fuller delivery to a silly point, inexplicably walked out of the crease, seemingly resetting her guard. This moment bore a resemblance to Jonny Bairstow's actions in the Ashes series earlier in the year.

The wicketkeeper batter Ghosh displayed astute game awareness and swiftly retrieved the ball at a silly point and accurately struck the stumps directly. Mooney was not even in the frame when the ball struck the stumps, prompting her to walk directly towards the pavilion without uttering a word.

The Indian openers,Β Smriti Mandhana (74) and Shafali Verma (40) gave India a brilliant task. It was later on capitalized brilliantly by Richa Ghosh (52) and Jemimah Rodrigues (73).
