Star Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan is currently in action for Rawalpindi Region during the ongoing domestic tournament National T20 Cup in Pakistan. Meanwhile, he made it to the headlines for another reason apart from the cricket. It all happened when he faced an injury-hit during a super-8 match against the Sialkot Region.

Shadab could bowl only 2 overs in the first innings before he faced the injury scare; subsequently, what attracted the eyeballs was the style in which Shadab was taken off the field by his teammate; the Rawalpindi skipper was carried off from the ground by his teammate on his back as there was no stretcher seen in the stadium.

The authorities were questioned for the lack of facilities at the stadium as the match between Rawalpindi and Sialkot Region was being played at the United Bank Limited Complex in Karachi.

“Are we in 1980? How are they taking Shadab Khan off the field? Koi Stretcher nahin hay kya PCB ke paas? UBL Complex bhi Karachi mein hay, Sukkur mein toh nahin (Are we in 1980? How are they taking Shadab Khan off the field? Doesn’t PCB have a stretcher? UBL Complex is also in Karachi, it’s not in Sukkur,” wrote a Pakistan-based cricket journalist while sharing the video over X (formerly Twitter).

Here’s the video of Shadab Khan being taken off from the ground:

Speaking of the action of the match, Rawalpindi skipper Shadab Khan won the toss and asked Sialkot to bat first. Batting first, Sialkot Region posted 163 runs for the loss of just 2 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Sialkot skipper and the veteran Pakistan all-rounder, Shoaib Malik scored a brilliant knock of 84 runs, alongside 72 runs scored by opener Ashir Mehmood.

But their knocks went in vain as Rawalpindi chased down the total in 18.4 overs, scoring 167 runs for losing 7 wickets and winning the match by 3 wickets, earning two more points.
