The Indians have successfully levelled the series after defeating England in the 2nd Test in Visakhapatnam by 106 runs. The England team might have shown glimpses of some great batting but it was the Indians who were on top in the majority of the game. The brilliant knocks of Yashasavi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill to go along with the brilliant spells from Jasprit Bumrah were one of the main highlights of the game that were responsible for a resounding Indian victory. This was an important win for the Indians after the disappointing loss in the first game which might have rocked them hard enough to come out as the better team in this game.
There were a few great performances from some England players with the likes of Tom Hartley and Zack Crawley being some of them. Both the 70+ knocks from Crawley did come at crucial times and Crawley managed to pick some wickets in the second innings as well. However, these performances were not enough since most of the bowlers were getting hit for runs and the batters were throwing away their starts while playing rash shots in the middle. It will be tough for the visitors to come back after this loss and the 3rd Test should be a great contest between these two sides.
Shreyas Iyer’s revenge
It was in the same innings where Shreyas Iyer while looking to attack Hartley by dancing down the tracks ends up miscuing the shot for England skipper Ben Stokes to run back from mid-off and complete an exceptional catch to get rid of him. Ben Stokes was another victim of great fielding from Iyer as well as he was caught lazily taking a single as Iyer ran in from mid-wicket and produced a great direct hit. This catches the England skipper short of his crease and Iyer gives him the same send-off he was given by Stokes during India’s batting.

These are moments where the importance of fielding comes into play and gets your team back into the game. Iyer might not have contributed a lot with the bat in this match, but these fielding efforts especially the wicket of Stokes was a really big moment in the match. We all know that Stokes is capable of changing the game with his batting even when he is batting with the tail. However, this was the rare moment where stokes who is known to be quick between the wickets was caught in a lazy run out Iyer took advantage of the situation and got the big wicket of the England captain.
