Young Indian opener Shubman Gill played a blistering knock of 80 runs off just 66 balls with 8 fours and 3 sixes with the bat before getting retired hurt in the ongoing first semi-final of the ODI World Cup 2023, against New Zealand. Meanwhile, Gill also smashed a huge six straight into the Indian dressing room.

The 24-year-old batter smashed this six in the over of Kiwi spinner Mitchell Santner, which was the 17th over of the Indian innings and India’s score was 122 runs for the loss of one wicket in 16.3 overs. Gill moved to 59 from 53 runs with this huge six into the Indian dressing room.

Speaking of the ongoing action of the first semi-final between India and New Zealand, India have posted a total of 397 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the allotted 50 overs at the end of the first innings courtesy of the amazing centuries scored by modern master Virat Kohli and star middle order batter Shreyas Iyer.

Virat Kohli scored 117 runs off 113 balls with 9 fours and 2 sixes, alongside Shreyas Iyer’s 105 runs off just 70 balls with 4 fours and 8 sixes. Apart from these two, Shubman Gill also played a crucial knock of 80 runs off just 66 balls, with 8 fours and 3 sixes.

Other than these three, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul also played the quick fiery knocks of 47 and 39 runs off just 29 and 20 balls, respectively.

The veteran pacer Tim Southee scalped three wickets for New Zealand, alongside 1 wicket picked by Trent Boult.
