Hobart Hurricanes and Sydney Sixers clashed against each other in the 5th match of the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) 2023/24 at the  North Tasmania Cricket Association Ground in Launceston on Monday, December 11. The Sixers held their nerves to beat the Hurricanes by 6 wickets.

Meanwhile, a video is getting viral on social media in which Sydney’s pacer Tom Curran got frightened by a flame near the boundary rope. However, what caught the most attention was his hilarious reaction. Curran was chasing the ball which was going towards the boundary but failed to do so. As he went to collect the ball from the boundary rope, a flame came out of nowhere.

Former legendary Australian captain Ricky Ponting who was at the commentary box and couldn’t control his laugh was left in splits and came up with a hilarious reaction and said, “Have a look at Tom Curran, boys watch this. Have a look at this, watch him jump,”

Talking about the match, winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Hobart encountered a challenging situation against the disciplined bowling attack of the Sixers, ultimately posting a total of 135/8 in their allotted 20 overs. Despite Caleb Jewell's brisk 42, the Hurricanes faced difficulties, with only Patrick Dooley managing to reach double figures. The Sixers displayed an impressive bowling performance, spearheaded by Tom Curran, who claimed three wickets for 19 runs in his four-over spell, backed up by Jack Edwards and Ben Dwarshuis, each securing two wickets.

In pursuit of the 136-run target, the Sixers demonstrated composure and control, securing the victory with six wickets in hand and four balls to spare, thanks to a crucial innings from Hughes, who scored 60 runs off 50 balls. Contributions from Jordan Silk and Moises Henriques further contributed to the team's successful chase. Despite the efforts of Corey Anderson and Nathan Ellis, who picked up crucial wickets for the Hurricanes, it proved insufficient to prevent the Sixers from clinching the win.
