The arch-rivals and two Asian cricketing giants, India and Pakistan are all set to face each other in the high-octane clash during the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023. It will be the eighth time in the history of the ODI World Cup that India and Pakistan will be taking on each other.

It will be a battle between the two best bowling and batting attacks of cricket. Star Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah and Pakistan pace spearhead Shaheen Shah Afridi will be the key players to watch out for. Meanwhile, the former Indian opener and now, the commentator, Gautam Gambhir came up with a blunt statement on being asked about the comparison between Bumrah and Afridi.

"Tell me one fast bowler who can make such an impact in every phase." - Gautam Gambhir on Jasprit Bumrah

The former batting legend lauded Indian pacer Bumrah and his brilliant bowling abilities, especially mentioning the dismissal of Mitchell Marsh in India’s ODI World Cup 2023 campaign opener against Australia.

“The way he dismissed Mitchell Marsh on that wicket (in the first game against Australia) and the way he dismissed Ibrahim Zadran today, if there is a complete and most lethal bowler in world cricket, it is Bumrah. We compared Jasprit Bumrah and Shaheen Shah Afridi earlier; there is a huge difference,” said Gambhir to Star Sports.

“Tell me one fast bowler who can make such an impact in every phase. Bowlers bowl well either with the new ball or at the death but Bumrah has the same impact in the middle overs as he has with the new ball or the old ball,” he added later.

Apart from this, the Indian pacer Bumrah himself spoke about the upcoming marquee clash against Pakistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

“I've been away for a while now. I'll be happy to see my mother at home. I'm going to see her. That's the first basic thing for me. I have not played a one-dayer there but I have played a Test match,” said Bumrah after India won by 8 wickets against Afghanistan.

“The atmosphere is going to be exciting. I'm sure a lot of people are going to come. So, it will be a sight to see. So yeah, hoping for the best over there,” he added later.
