The renowned Indian umpire Nitin Menon is famous for his decisions whenever he officiates in any international match, be it as an on-field umpire or as a TV umpire. Apart from that, he has also been in the social media headlines for his couple of controversial decisions which didn’t go in favour of former Indian skipper and the modern-day batting great, Virat Kohli.

Meanwhile, Menon made it to the social media headlines once again, but now, he has not attracted the eyeballs for his umpiring, but it all happened after the 39-year-old was seen shooting for a brand commercial. The snaps of Menon shooting for this TV ad are also making rounds on social media as soon as a few users shared them on X (formerly Twitter).

Here’s a look at Nitin Menon’s illustrious umpiring career

Speaking of Nitin Menon’s umpiring, he has officiated in 161 international matches, including 13 Women’s T20I matches. If it’s about men’s cricket, the Indore-born umpire has been in the role of an official in 25 Tests (20 times on-field and 5 times TV umpire), 62 ODIs (52 times on-field and 10 times TV umpire), and 61 T20Is (40 times on-field and 21 times TV umpire).

He is also officiating in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, in India. Most recently, he was sharing the field as an umpire, alongside Sri Lanka’s Kumar Dharmasena, in the 11^th  match of the ODI World Cup 2023, between Bangladesh and New Zealand. Both teams played this match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai yesterday Friday, October 13.

Apart from his umpiring career, Menon had also played for Madhya Pradesh in the List-A cricket. However, his career as a cricketer was not too long and he could play only two List-A matches for MP, almost 20 years back in the year 2004 during January.
