Cristiano Ronaldo’s season just keeps getting worse. Barely a few days after losing 4-0 to Brentford, the Portuguese footballer has been cautioned by the police regarding an earlier incident where he smashed a phone out of a fan’s hand.

The incident happened when Manchester United clashed against Everton on April 19th. A first-half strike from Anthony Gordan had put Everton ahead and Ronaldo was visibly upset. While going into the dressing room after the first half, he appeared to smash an Everton fan’s phone out of his hand as he was taking a photo of the Manchester United forward.

The young fan’s mother later filed a case against Ronaldo which was being investigated and reached a decisive point on Wednesday. According to a report by InsideSport, Merseyside police came out and said, "We can confirm that a 37-year-old man voluntarily attended and was interviewed under caution in relation to an allegation of assault and criminal damage.

The allegation relates to an incident following the Everton v Manchester United football match at Goodison Park on Saturday, April 9. The matter has been dealt with by way of a conditional caution. The matter has now concluded."

Earlier, Sarah Kelly, the young fan’s mother had said that her autistic son was “really upset” after the game and the incident has “completely put him off” going to another match.

Manchester United's misery continues

Ronaldo’s second tenure at the club has been far from what he expected, as the club continues to fall into despair. Manchester United started off very poorly this season, losing both of their games in what has come as their worst performance in the history of the Premier League. Two losses namely 2-0 against Brighton and 4-0 against Brentford have subjected them to the bottom of the table with zero points and a goal difference of -6.

United fans are getting increasingly frustrated with the Glazers and have launched a campaign against the owners. A large chunk of match-going Manchester United fans are expected to boycott the Premier League match against Liverpool in what is going to be a statement against the club owners on August 23rd.
