Rinku Singh

The young uncapped India star Rinku Singh was in the headlines for the last couple of days as he was not picked in the T20I squad against West Indies. The fans questioned Singh's omission as he had produced some stellar performances throughout the entire edition of the Indian Premier League 2023.

Meanwhile, the young southpaw attracted the eyeballs of the Indian cricketing fraternity with an impressive and quick knock of 40 runs off just 30 balls in the Duleep Trophy. Singh played this knock for Central Zone in the semi-final against West Zone.

Notably, it was only Rinku Singh who amazed the cricketing fraternity when he smashed five consecutive sixes in the last over to win almost a lost match for the Kolkata Knight Riders. It was the moment when KKR required 29 runs off the last 5 balls in the 20th over of the second innings. The 25-year-old targeted Gujarat Titans’ pacer Yash Dayal in the last over of the innings and ended up winning the match for KKR.

Rinku Singh's consecutive heroics in IPL 2022 and IPL 2023

Speaking of his performances in the IPL 2023, the young KKR star scored 476 runs in the 14 innings of the 14 matches, he played for his team. He scored these runs with an impressive batting average of 59.25 including four half-centuries and 6 unbeaten knocks in the tournament.

Last year in the Indian Premier League 2022, the UP-born batter got a chance to appear in 7 matches. In these matches, Rinku scored 174 runs with a good average of 34.80 including some remarkable knocks throughout the tournament.

The fans were expecting a maiden India call-up for the young batting star but the selectors went on to invest the trust in two other young IPL stars Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tilak Varma.

Talking about Team India, they are set to play a five-match T20I series against West Indies following the conclusion of the two-match Test series and three-match ODI series. The T20I series will be played between both teams in August 2023 next month.
