In the latest development, the Chief Selector of the Indian Cricket Board, Chetan Sharma resigned from the selection committee through a sting operation. Sharma, earlier in the week, made several scathing revelations about Indian cricket and the players that have shocked the Indian cricketing fraternity.

Notably, Sharma, who was sacked by the board following India’s defeat in the 20-20 World Cup last year, was surprisingly reappointed as the Chairman of the selection committee last month. Sharma allegedly revealed the internal discussion with the captain and coach in the sting operation.

Sharma in his sting alleged that many Indian players take an injection to gain match fitness when they are just 80% fit. He also alleged that Star pacer Jasprit Bumrah hid his injury during Australia Series last year. ''Not a pain killer. They take injections and no one gets to know about it. The player will have to take a prescription for a pain killer and he will get caught in anti-doping, they know directly which injection won't come in anti-doping. They are big superstars. They will make one phone call. There are a thousand doctors, they will come at night and give them an injection," he said.

‘Virat Kohli tried to defame Sourav Ganguly’, claimed Sharma

The 57-year-old former fast bowler in his sting also spoke about the rift between Virat Kohli and Sourav Ganguly. According to Sharma, Virat intentionally tried to pick a fight with the board chief Ganguly. He said he (Kohli) tried to hit back at the (former) president at that time. It was a damaging controversy. It was a classic case of a player going against the board.

“The president represents the board, isn't he? As to whose fault it was, that will be judged in time, but it was an attack on the board. All our players are discouraged from doing this because the loss will be theirs as everyone will go against them, even if the president is at fault. There has to be some respect for the chair."

However, fans reacted to his resignation news and asked why the board didn’t sack him earlier. A Twitter user said, “So only Virat was sacked till now as Chetan Sharma also resigned.”
