In the shocking reports that surfaced recently on social media, the legendary CSK skipper MS Dhoni is reported to be banned from the IPL 2023 final. It is being reported in the light of an incident that happened during the first qualifier between the four-time champions Chennai Super Kings and the defending champions Gujarat Titans.
The incident occurred after the 15th over of the second innings when Gujarat Titans were batting. Dhoni wanted Matheesha Pathirana to bowl the 16th over but umpires didn’t allow him as he was out of the field for nine minutes; the official rule says that if a player goes out of the field for more than a time period of eight minutes, he is entitled to spend at least eight minutes on the ground in order to get eligible for bowling.
During this incident, it was only four minutes after Pathirana came back into the action on the field; at this point, the CSK skipper played a trick and tried to waste the remaining four minutes by initiating a conversation with the on-field umpires and get Pathirana eligible to bowl for the Chennai Super Kings.
"MS Dhoni can be banned from the IPL final. If the umpire lodges an official complaint against him for breaching the IPL code of conduct," read a report of Patrika which is going viral on social media.
