During the 14th game of the ongoing The Hundred Men's competition between Southern Brave and Oval Invincibles, Marcus Stoinis created a controversy. He plays for Southern Brave and was dismissed by Mohammad Hasnain. The incident happened on the 61st ball of the innings. After Stoinis' inning ended, he suggested that the bowler was chucking while going back to the dressing room.
This gesture was caught on camera and it created a big controversy. Reacting to it, former Pakistan skipper Salman Butt lashed out at the Australian all-rounder. The former said that it was a below-the-belt action. Butt also pointed out that the World Cricket Governing Council had cleared his action so there was no point to suggest chucking. For the unversed, the Hyderabad (Pakistan) player was suspended from bowling after his bowling action was found illegal.
“It was below-the-belt action. I mean Cricket's Governing Council just cleared his (Hasnain) actions then what's the point? It is not about where he did it? It can be ITL, or PSL or The Hundred but here the talk is about international cricket. The fact is that when the Apex body has cleared his actions, the authorities have had a look at his actions then who are you? Hasnain will already be under tight scrutiny because he just made a comeback,” he said.
Why he was let away? - Salman Butt
The Lahore player has also questioned the match referee, Dean Cosker on why the 33-year-old wasn't punished for the same. The former Pakistan skipper also pointed out that other players wouldn't have gotten away with such things.
“Moreover, Stoinis got away with it. He got away with it something which others might not. Why was he let away with that? Is this even funny? If players cross their limit then they should be punished,” Butt added.
Just like the left-hander, the Pakistan fans are also unhappy with the way Marcus behaved on the field. They took to Twitter to express their disappointment.
