India and West Indies met on Sunday for the fifth and final T20I of the series. The game took place at the same venue as the fourth T20I yesterday at Lauderhill, Florida. Having won the series already, India decided to rest many regular players and test their bench strength. Hardik Pandya led the side as regular captain Rohit Sharma was rested. India won the toss and decided to bat first. The new openers Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer walked out to the middle to make the most of their opportunities.
After failing to score big so far in the series, Iyer decided to make the most of this opportunity and looked in fine touch as he got off the mark with a boundary in the first over. As Iyer looked at ease scoring boundaries one after the other, Kishan looked to be struggling at the other end. He was dismissed at the score of 38 after scoring 11 off 13 balls. Kishan’s dismissal brought Deepak Hooda at the crease who started scoring freely right from the word go.
Iyer and Hooda added 76 runs for the second wicket. Iyer made amends for his poor show in the series by scoring a brilliant half-century as the team set their eyes on the big score. He was finally dismissed after scoring 64 off 40 balls. Some late flourish by the captain Hardik Pandya, who scored 28 off 16, propelled India’s total to 188/7 after their allotted 20 overs.
The West Indies began their chase with a new opening combination of Jason Holder and Shamarh Brooks. The experiment failed as Holder was sent on his way back to the pavilion on just the third ball of the innings by Axar Patel. What followed after was a repeat of the West Indies chase in the first and the fourth T20I as batters once again failed to counter the Indian spin attack. Shimron Hetmyer was the lone warrior in the West Indies innings who looked unfazed by what was happening at the other end and continued to bat positively. But even he couldn't do much to take his team out of misery as he got dismissed after scoring 56 off 35 balls. The Indian spinners scripted an emphatic win for the team as they picked up all 10 wickets among them. Ravi Bishnoi picked up 4 wickets while Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel picked up 3-3 wickets each.
Here's how Twitter reacted to India winning the series:
Fifty by Shreyas Iyer in 30 balls - a brilliant innings so far by Iyer, came into the side today after missing out previous one and cashing in. pic.twitter.com/E1a0p0wtHC

So it's confirmed now. No Ishan Kishan in the Asia Cup. Feeling bad for him but but it's really his own fault.

Don't understand why people are poping up Sanju in the T20I squad. If it's Samson vs Kishan then Ishan Kishan is clearly of him as far as T20I is concerned. Just played against Ireland. Wasn't even in the squad against England in the 2nd and 3rd T20I and the WI series.

Rohit Sharma gave Indian cricket a gem in the form of Deepak Hooda, this guy always shows great intent and play both aggressive and anchor. Great player for NO 3. pic.twitter.com/pEY8xPit2g
