On Day 2 of the second Test between West Indies and India in Port of Spain, Trinidad, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja came out to bat with overnight scores of 87 and 36 respectively. Kohli completed his 29th Test hundred and became the first batter to score a century in their 500th international match. This was Kohli’s first overseas international century since 2018; his last ton came in the India tour of Australia.

They both stitched a crucial 159-run partnership which was broken when Kohli got run out on 121 off 206 balls. India's domination continued even after Jadeja was knocked over on 61 off 152, with Ravichandran Ashwin stepping in and maintaining his incredible batting record against the West Indies. Ashwin was the last man out, hitting 56 off 78 balls taking the visitors to a total of 438.

Virat Kohli equals Don Bradman's tally

25 of his 29 Test centuries have come batting at number 4, which is the fourth highest in all-time tally. Only Sachin Tendulkar, Jacques Kallis, and former Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardene have struck more hundreds from this batting position. He scored 76 international hundreds in 559 innings, faster than any other player in the game's history.

The 34-year-old also became the first player to score a hundred in his 500th International match. The former Indian captain also lists second with the great Sachin Tendulkar in terms of the most number of away Test centuries. Kohli even equalled the great Don Bradman's 29-century tally and enters the top ten for most hundreds in Test cricket. His unwavering consistency and ability to produce under pressure have garnered several accolades and plaudits.

Windies opened their first innings with captain Kraigg Brathwaite and Tagenarine Chanderpaul who got them off to a respectable start, negotiating the balls with caution and assurance. However, the latter fell to Ravindra Jadeja in the 35th over for 33 off 95, losing their first wicket for 71. Next to come in was debutant Kirk McKenzie who showed a lot of promise and potential. The West Indies finished the day on 86/1 and 352 runs behind. India will be looking for quick wickets at the start of Day 3 as Brathwaite remains unbeaten on 37 and McKenzie on 14.
