Star Indian batter KL Rahul has finally returned to the Indian team after recovering from an injury. The opener was out of action since the Indian T20 League and made a return to the side in the recently concluded ODI series against Zimbabwe. However, Rahul’s return to international cricket hasn’t been memorable so far as the batter has looked completely out of touch with the bat.

The 30-year-old returned back to the pavilion without troubling the scorers in the mega-clash against Pakistan. Rahul chopped the very second ball of the innings by Naseem Shah back onto his stumps. The star batter hoped for a change of fortunes in the second match against Hong Kong but once again didn’t look at his best.

The star batter was looking fidgety at the crease as he failed to get going even against a below-par bowling lineup of Hong Kong. Rahul’s slow knock increased the pressure on his opening partner Rohit Sharma who faltered while trying to go for a big shot. Despite hitting two sixes in his innings, Rahul could only manage to score 36 off 39 balls. Rahul’s forgettable stay in the middle was ended as he tried to sweep a delivery from well outside off stump and edged it to the wicketkeeper.

In the series against Zimbabwe, Rahul didn’t get a chance to bat in the first ODI. In the second ODI, he returned to the pavilion after scoring just 1 run off five balls. While in the third ODI, he tried to take his time and settle at the crease but couldn’t convert his start into a big score. He got dismissed after scoring 30 off 46 balls as he got bowled by Brad Evans.

Rahul’s knock today didn’t go down well with the fans who are bashing him left, right and centre for his poor knock. People are calling him a selfish player who’s only trying to ‘stat-pad’. As soon as Rahul got out, Twitter was abuzz with reactions on his slow knock. Here are some of the best Tweets on Rahul’s innings:
