Here is how fans have reacted to the appointment of Shahid Afridi as the interim chief selector of the Pakistan men's team

On 20 December 2022, Pakistan lost the home three-match Test series against England by 3-0. Therefore, fans were not happy with such a result and they slammed former Chairman, Ramiz Raja and skipper Babar Azam. However, on 21 December 2022, reports came out that Ramiz Raja has been sacked already from the post. Prime Minister Shehbaz Shariff has approved Najam Sethi’s appointment as the new PCB Chairman.

Then, on the next day, Najam Sethi shared a tweet and wrote: “The cricket regime headed by Ramiz Raja @iramizraja is no more. The 2014 PCB constitution stands restored. The Management Committee will work tirelessly to revive first-class cricket. Thousands of cricketers will be employed again. The famine in cricket will come to an end.”

Meanwhile, the Men in Green are currently gearing up for the two-match home Test series against New Zealand. Now, before this series, Najam Sethi announced, on 24 December 2022, that Shahid Afridi will be the interim chief selector of the men's team. Former cricketers Abdul Razzaq and Rao Iftikhar Anjum are also part of the panel, while Haroon Rashid will manage the convener role. 

On Twitter, the Pakistan Cricket Board shared a statement that read: “PCB Management Committee has appointed former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi as the interim Chair of the Men’s National Selection Committee. Other members of the panel are Abdul Razzaq and Rao Iftikhar Anjum. Haroon Rashid will be the Convener.” Najam Sethi also shared a tweet that read: “I am pleased to announce, with immediate effect, an Interim Selection Committee for the New Zealand tour. It comprises Shahid Afridi (Chief Selector), Abdul Razzaq, and Rao Iftikhar, with Haroon Rashid as Convenor.” 

Speaking of Shahid Afridi, he played 524 matches across all three formats and managed to score 11196 runs. He also managed to take 541 wickets. But, fans were not happy with the appointment as they claimed that worse days are incoming for Pakistan cricket.
