After losing the opening match of the Indian T20 League 2023 against the Gujarat-based franchise, Chennai produced a remarkable comeback in their second match by defeating Lucknow. The four-time champions beat the KL Rahul-led side in a high-scoring thrilling contest by 12 runs.

Meanwhile, after the victory, the Chennai skipper MS Dhoni, lovingly called Thala by fans, met former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina. However, Raina looked a little bit emotional while meeting Dhoni as he hugged and planted a kiss on his neck. Many fans loved the picture posted by the Chennai-based franchise and shared some emotional tweets about it.

Talking about Chennai's second match, Lucknow won the toss and elected to bowl first. But their decision proved wrong as Chennai openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway provided a flying start to the team by stitching a 110-run partnership for the first wicket. It was expected that the te,am would cross the 250-run mark after a tremendous start given by the openers.

But Lucknow bowlers managed to get some much-needed breakthroughs. However, still they managed to achieve a massive total of 217 runs after losing 7 wickets. The contest witnessed a glimpse of vintage Dhoni as when he came to bat in the final over of the innings, he smashed two consecutive sixes against Mark Wood.

As soon as Lucknow began to bat, pressure began to build on them as captain KL Rahul once again underperformed. Although Kyle Mayers did score 53 runs to offer the team some hope, Chennai won the match by 12 runs because of Moeen Ali's brilliant spell that completely decimated Lucknow's lineup.

Because to his four wickets and 19 runs at the plate, Moeen was named Player of the Match.

Meanwhile, as Chennai have opened their winning account they will hope to continue their winning run and get their hands on the title for the fifth time. The batters are in red-hot form but the bowlers are yet to get their form back. Dhoni also stated that if they didn't stop giving extras then he will leave the captaincy.
