Ellyse Perry reveals why she always had 'soft spot' for Bangalore ahead of Women's T20 League

Star Australia allrounder Ellyse Perry had shared a "twist of fate" after being roped in by the Bengaluru franchise for the Women’s T20 League. At the player auction of the inaugural season in Mumbai, a Bangalore-based franchise purchased Perry for INR 1.7 crore. Perry, in a recent video, revealed how things turned around for her as she attended the opening game of Bangalore in 2008 and is now set to play for them.

In a video released by the Bangalore franchise, Perry said, "A big hello and a big thank you for the opportunity to play with Bangalore in the first-ever Women’s T20 League. I'm so excited for this tournament and everything it means for the women's game.”

"It is kind of cool because the twist of fate was that I was actually at the first-ever Bangalore game for men many years ago. Since then, the team has always had a bit of a soft spot in my heart. I suppose it was this twist of fate and now being part of the first-ever women's team is super cool. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone who is part of the team and also the huge fanbase that the club has. It's amazing to think it is all coming to reality. So, look forward to seeing you all in March," added Perry.

Mumbai to host entire Women’s T20 League

The inaugural edition of the Women’s T20 League will be entirely played in Mumbai. Two stadiums- DY Patil and Brabourne Stadiums are going to host the entire league. Bangalore will start its campaign against Delhi on March 5.

Notably, Bangalore has the fieriest lineup as they have roped in likes of Smriti Mandhana, Ellyse Perry, England captain Heather Knight, and New Zealand captain Sophie Devine. However, Mandhana became their costliest buy as she came for INR 3.4 crore. She also became the most expensive player in the league.
