FIFA World Cup 2022, Group H: Portugal clinch emphatic win against Uruguay as Bruno Fernandes shines

Portugal are one of the biggest names when it comes to football and the team faced off against Uruguay in their Group H campaign of the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2022 hosted by Qatar. The team’s first game against Ghana turned out to be a great one as they won the game after crushing the latter 3-2. 

Concerning the game against the La Celeste, Portugal got off to a massive start and kept possession within themselves, putting Uruguayan players under deep pressure right away. Contrary to Uruguay’s 2, Portugal created 5 opportunities within the 35-minute mark, proving their dominance and prowess, yet again.

Uruguay, on the other hand, struggled to withstand Portugal’s wrath and kept losing possession and eventually came up with disastrous passing. It was Portugal who managed to find 3 corners in addition to their shots into the 18–yard box, while the La Celeste were thriving to get things sorted. 

Portugal qualify for Round of 16 in FIFA World Cup 2022

With the scoreline at 0-0, the second half started between the two heavyweights and Portugal eventually carried on with their momentum from the first half, impressing the set of spectators and team management. While Uruguay were still struggling to come up with frequent tackles, Portugal eventually started creating too many opportunities in the deciding half. 

With only one game left for both teams post the battle, both teams would look to toil hard in their next game and eventually clinch a win to their name. To add more, Portugal and South Korea will lock horns in their final match in the group, on December 2, Friday, while Uruguay will toil hard against Ghana on the same day.

Concerning the match between Portugal and Uruguay, it was Bruno Fernandes, the star player, who scored the first goal for the Os Navegadores in the 54th minute with a brilliant header and proving his prowess to the world and in the campaign, yet again. The star footballer made a comeback yet again as he managed to capitalize on a penalty in the extra time towards the end of the deciding half, grabbing a brace to his name. On the back of the stupendous brace from Fernandes, Portugal won the match 2-0 and took home the 3 points, qualifying for the Round of 16 stage in the FIFA World Cup 2022.
