On 26 November 2022, France locked horns with Denmark in Stadium 974. It was a Group D encounter of the ongoing FIFA World Cup. Defending champions, France made a winning start to their title defense. They defeated Australia by 4-1. Meanwhile, their opponent, Denmark were coming off after a goalless draw with Tunisia. 

So, France were looking to ensure their place in the next round of the World Cup. On the other hand, Denmark were looking to register their first win in this tournament. However, in their last meeting in the Nations League, Denmark defeated the World Champions by 2-0. So, fans were hoping for a good clash between these sides.

Speaking of the match, both teams started the match steadily. However, France had a great opportunity to score in the 22nd minute. Adrien Rabiot managed a thumping header as Ousmane Dembele provided a beautiful inswinging cross. But, Denmark’s Kasper Schmeichel came up with a brilliant save.

Then, in the 35th minute, Denmark came close to opening the scoring. But, they failed to do so as Jesper Lindstrom’s shot went whistling wide. In the remaining minutes of the first half, both teams tried hard. But, no side scored as the first half ended 0-0. Then, in the second half, France began the game with more intensity. Both Antoine Griezmann and Kylian Mbappe failed to score in the first 10 minutes despite having since chances. 

But, in the 61st minute, France took lead as Kylian Mbappe scored the opening goal. Theo Hernandez provided an assist as Mbappe dispatched a tricky shot to beat Schmeichel. However, Denmark did not take long to respond. In the 68th minute, Andreas Christensen scored from a corner which Joachim Andersen delivered. In the 80th minute, Adrien Rabiot managed to hit an outrageous scissor-kick. But, the ball went narrowly wide off the target. Then, in the 86th minute, Mbappe scored his second goal in the match. Griezmann provided a beautiful ball into the box and the PSG star headed that into the goal. However, the match ended 2-1, in favour of France and they qualified for thenext round with one more match to go in the group stage.
