In a major blow for Australia, the veteran pacer Mitchell Starc is still not completely fit to be in action for his side. In the same line of events, he is also set to miss the first ODI of the three-match ODI series against India, starting tomorrow on Friday, September 22. Australia will take on the hosts India in the series opener at the PCA IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali.
Starc’s fellow pacer and Australian skipper, Pat Cummins confirmed the unavailability of Pat Cummins for the first ODI against the men in blue. Cummins told the press that the left-arm quick is still in the process of recovery from ‘groin soreness’, which he sustained at the time of travelling to England for the World Test Championship Final followed by the Ashes 2023.
Other than Mitchell Starc, the Aussie fans were also expecting a comeback of the veteran all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, who was ruled out of the recently concluded five-match ODI series against South Africa, in South Africa. But unfortunately, Maxwell will also miss the Mohali ODI against India as per the confirmation from the skipper Pat Cummins.
