It is an excruciating situation for a cricketer to come out and play despite serious injuries. From broken jaws to concussions, there are many injuries that won't allow any player to come back to the field before healing. However, there are a few cricketers who, despite the odds have come back for the sake of their national team. Fans remember these incidents very well and the players were lauded for those gestures.

Although, there are numerous players who decided to come back to the field. However, we have filtered only five cricketers who came back to the field. These players are the legends of the game. So without further ado, let's have a look at those players who decided to return to play rather than recover.

Five players who decided to play despite injuries

1. Kedhar Jadhav

The former India player's proneness to injuries is hidden from none. From making his debut in late 2016 to playing his last in the 2019 ODI World Cup, he got injured multiple times.

One of those instances was the India vs Bangladesh game which was the final of the Asia Cup 2018. In that game, he got retired hurt but after the team lost the wicket of Ravindra Jadeja, Jadhav decided to come out to bat and took the team over the line.

2. Sourav Ganguly

The current president of the Indian Cricket Board faced a difficult situation after he got stuck in his ribs in an ODI against Sri Lanka in 2006. This happened in the third ball of the second innings when the Men In Blue were chasing 259 runs to win.

After a while, Ganguly decided to walk off as it was difficult for him to bat. However, when India lost their second wicket on 110, the left-hander decided to come back and stayed till the end to ensure the team won the game.

3. Tamim Iqbal

The Bangladesh opening batter suffered a nasty blow from the now-retired Sri Lanka pacer Suranga Lakmal in the second over of the game. The impact of the blow on his left wrist was so bad that he was on his knees instantly.

He left the field after a short while. The left-hander returned to bat when the team lost its ninth wicket in the 47th over. He helped Mushfiqur Rahim take the team to a fighting total of 261 runs which led the team to win the game.

4. Anil Kumble

The former India Test skipper and the head coach of the team suffered a nasty blow facing Mervyn Dillon from the West Indies. The fans might remember this game as the famous Test match in Antigua.

The leggie, despite his injuries, decided to come out and bowl as well. At the end of the Day, he took the prized wicket of Brian Lara.

5. Naseem Shah

The young Pakistani pace prodigy made his T20I debut last week in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 game against India. In his first spell, he took the wicket of KL Rahul to begin his career in the shortest format.

However, in the second spell, he was struggling with injuries. Despite this, he made sure that he gave his best although the team couldn't win the game in the end.
