'Ek hi dil hai, kitni baar todoge' - Fans react as India lost to Syria in their last league match in AFC Asian Cup 2023, facing winless exit

India faced their third consecutive defeat in the AFC Asian Cup 2023; they lost to Syria by 0-1 following two defeats against Australia and Uzbekistan.

India took on Syria in their last league match of the ongoing AFC Asian Cup 2023; both teams played this match at the Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. The game looked quite competitive in the first half of the match as both teams were at the scores of 0 each at the end of the first half of the match.

Even in the second half, both teams denied each other scoring a Goal by the 76th minute of the match. But then came a brilliant move from Omar Khrbin who scored a brilliant goal on a right-footed shot straight from the centre of the box to the bottom left corner. This amazing Goal in Syria’s favour was assisted by Ibrahim Hesar.

With this amazing effort from Khrbin, Syria took a lead of 1-0 in the score line and they maintained it till the end of the full-time match and the final whistle from the referee.

India faced a winless exit from the AFC Asian Cup 2023

Notably, it was the third consecutive loss for the men in blue in the AFC Asian Cup 2023; earlier they lost against Uzbekistan by 0-3 in their second match on Thursday, January 18, 2024. Before that, they lost to Australia in their campaign opener by 0-2 on Saturday, January 13, 2024, played at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium (Al Rayyan).

India finished winless in the AFC Asian Cup 2023, losing all three matches in a row, they ended up at the fourth spot in the points table of Group B. Syria finished at the third spot of Group B’s points table with a win, a loss and a match ended in a draw. Australia and Uzbekistan ended up at the top two spots with, the latter secured one with two draws. On the other hand, Australia were the table toppers, with two wins and a draw, securing 7 points after the group stage.
