Former legendary Tennis star Boris Becker has expressed his excitement after learning about the highly anticipated return of Novak Djokovic in the US Open. Notably, the veteran Serb star is returning to the court after a long wait of 2 years. Last time, Djokovic appeared in the US Open two years back in 2021, when he faced a loss in the US Open final.

Recently, he was in action against the Wimbledon 2023 champion, Carlos Alcaraz in the just-concluded Cincinnati Open. The 36-year-old squared off the Wimbledon final defeat against Carlos Alcaraz after defeating the latter by a margin of 5-7, 7-6(7), and 7-6(4) in the title clash of Cincinnati Open.

It was the Instagram handle of Eurosport where they posted a video of the Serb star making his way to the famous Arthur Ashe Stadium after missing it for a period of two years. The fans welcomed him with loud cheers and heart-warming gestures.

Subsequently, the former tennis great Boris Becker, who had also been the coach of Djokovic, shared Eurosport’s video on his Instagram story and wrote the text, “Nole is back in NYC,” over the video he shared.

Djokovic had also expressed his admiration for the former German legend as both worked together almost ten years back in 2013. "We have spent many moments together during those three years of collaboration, our relationship goes back even before that stage, after cutting our work we continue to keep in touch," Djokovic had said.

"Boris is a dear friend, of course, my former coach. I've had amazing success in my career with him as a coach. He's one of the mentally strongest people I know," he added.

Apart from this, the current World Number 2 also credited Becker for revolutionizing the modern world of tennis in various ways with his brilliance. "He's someone that's so respected by the tennis community and just the sports world in general. One of the most famous German athletes of all time, somebody who really revolutionized tennis as well. In Europe, and worldwide as well. He was No. 1 in the world," he said.
