Former Pakistani left-arm pacer spoke about his thought process behind playing the IPL next year after obtaining British passport

Mohammad Amir, the former Pakistani bowler, is scheduled to obtain a British passport in 2024. In 2016, the famous quick wed lawyer and British citizen Narjis Khan. The Pakistani cricketer moved to England in 2020, and he will now get his British passport in just one more year. It should be noted that Pakistani athletes cannot play in the Indian Premier League, although Amir's British passport may allow him to. Another important concern, though, is whether the bowler is actually willing to play in the lucrative Indian league.

In the first season of IPL in 2008, Pakistani players participated, but India banned their participation due to the deteriorating diplomatic relations between the two countries. The former left-arm seamer spoke to ARY news and this question arises and he gave a politically correct answer.

Amir said, “I have one year. I don't know what would be the scenario. I always move step by step. I don't know where I will be after a year. Nobody knows the future. When I get the passport, I will definitely avail the best opportunity I get."’

The former Pakistani bowler made it abundantly clear, though, that he wasn't going to be representing England in international cricket. The 2017 Champions Trophy winner said, “I won't play for England. I have already played international cricket, whatever I had to play, for Pakistan."

Amir had already stated his delight at the prospect of maybe representing Pakistan once more. The pacer ended his career on the international stage in 2020 after complaining about the "shabby" approach he claimed to have received from the management at the time. He said, "If Allah wills, I will play for Pakistan again. But I would like to play and perform well in PSL."

Mohammad Amir of Pakistan announced his retirement from international cricket, claiming that the team's management had "mentally tortured" him. The left-arm quick bowler participated in 147 international matches for his nation in all three forms, winning 259 wickets overall, notably 119 in Test cricket.
