Australia's historic tour to Pakistan ended with a one-off T20 match going in the favour of the visitors. Australia beat Pakistan by three wickets to conclude their tour after a complete all-format series. They restricted Pakistan to 162 runs with the help of Nathan Ellis' four-wicket haul. The Aaron Finch-let side then chased the target down comfortably with the help of skipper Finch, who scored a 45-ball 55.
Meanwhile, Pakistan captain, Babar Azam, was the star of the entire series as he was at his best with the bat in all formats. In the three-match Test series, which they lost 1-0, he scored 390 runs with a century. He followed it up in the ODI series, scoring 276 runs with two centuries in the three innings. In the T20 game, he managed to score 66 runs as well. His batting was clean, and he never looked in a hurry to get the runs. Credit to his batting, Pakistan won the ODI series by 2-1.
"We were happy with that, after the start they got, we know that Babar and Rizwan - they are fantastic at the top of the order. Anything under 180 we were happy and Cameron Green turned it around with those wickets. Glad that we don't have to bowl to Babar anymore," Aaron Finch said as reported by India Today.
Finch and team eyeing the T20 World Cup 2022
In the match on Tuesday, Marnus Labuschagne, Ben Dwarshuis, and Cameron Green all made their T20 debuts. Captain Finch was satisfied with how the team performed in the white-ball series. He said that every match was in the process to play the T20 World Cup in Australia later this year.
"Really good sign of things to come for our white-ball team. Everything we do will be with one eye on the World Cup - both in the T20 format and the ODIs. Really proud of the entire group, we have been in bubbles and other things but the resilience shown over a couple of years has been fantastic. To see so many youngsters come into the Australian team and do well is exciting for the future," he added.
