Early this year, Shubman Gill was one of the first three signings of the Gujarat franchise ahead of the player auction. The right-hander was released by Kolkata for whom he played from 2018 to 2021. Gill had a mixed season with the bat as he scored 483 runs in 16 games at an average of 34.50 and a strike rate of 132.33 including the highest score of 96.

The Indian T20 League debutants went on to win the tournament as they beat Rajasthan in the final. The 2018 U19 World Cup was one of the highest run-getters for the team in the tournament. Now, all off a sudden, the Ahmedabad-based franchise has posted a farewell message for him. It reads 'It’s been a journey to remember. We wish you all the best for your next endeavour, @ShubmanGill ! #AavaDe

On top of that, the opening batter of the team has replied with emojis.

The conversation has sparked rumors of Shubman Gill leaving the team

Due to the conversation between the two parties, the Netizens haven't been able to figure out what's happening. Most of the comments under this conversation have been emojis which represents confusion. Meanwhile, there is no official word on this from both parties at the time of writing. It will be interesting to see whether it is a prank or if Gill is actually leaving the team. The theory of both parties playing a prank can't be ruled out at this point.

Talking about Shubman, he is currently playing in County Cricket for Glamorgan which is a Wales-based team. Recently, he hit 92 runs in a game against Worcestershire. Him missing out on hundreds is not new in the game. In the Gabba Test against Australia last year, he scored 91 runs but missed out on his maiden hundred. During the Indian T20 League 2022, the Punjab player missed his hundred by four runs. He has only one hundred that he scored against Zimbabwe last month.
