Rinku Singh

The young uncapped Indian batter and IPL sensation, Rinku Singh’s stellar performances throughout the entire season of IPL 2023 paid off as he got his maiden India call-up. Notably, Rinku has been picked in the squad of India for the upcoming Asian Games 2023 where the Indian men’s senior team will be appearing for the first time.

Coming back to Rinku Singh, he recently named his Idol. Interestingly his idol is none of the former Indian skippers and cricketing greats, Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni. Rinku spoke highly of the former CSK star and former Indian batter, Suresh Raina, who is also known as Mr. IPL for his consistent performances in the cash-rich Indian franchise tournament.

"Suresh Raina has been my idol.  I am regularly in touch with him. He is the IPL King and he keeps sharing his inputs with me. He has helped me a lot in my career. Bhajju pa (Harbhajan Singh) has also helped me a lot in my career. I am grateful for their support and whenever such big players talk about you, it motivates you to push yourself more,” said Rinku to RevSportz during an interview.

Rinku also talked about his maiden call-up to the national squad of Team India. He went on to accept the fact that it is quite an emotional moment for him, and he could be in tears while donning the Indian jersey for the first time in his cricketing career.

"Everyone dreams to play for India and wear that jersey. I don’t think a lot about the future because the more you think, the more burden you put yourself under. I take life one day at a time. But yes, whoever takes up professional sports wants to represent their country one day or the other. I know for a fact that my family, my family, my parents will be happier than me to see me wear the Indian jersey. They have been waiting for this for years now. They have seen my struggle, they have helped me, been with me through all my ups and downs. The day I don the jersey will be a day dedicated to them,” said Rinku.
