The four-time champions Chennai Super Kings under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, are currently enjoying a good run of form in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League 2023. They are currently placed in the second spot in the second spot of the points table in the tournament with six wins and four losses in the 11 matches they have played so far.

The CSK are highly in contention for making it to the playoffs of the current season owing to their current form. Other than this, there is also a discussion on a very peak about the retirement of CSK skipper and former legendary skipper, MS Dhoni from the cash-rich Indian franchise league.

Meanwhile, the former Indian head coach and current commentator, Ravi Shastri has explained a few of the reasons behind CSK’s success in the tournament so far and why they are so dangerous including the impacts of the ‘Dhoni magic’ for them.

"He's (Dhoni) a master at creating combination. It's intuitive. it's understanding. Probably persisting with a guy who might not be good in 2022, but having the foresight to believe that he'll be very good in 2023, gives him the confidence in 2022 to go through the grind. Thinking ahead. He would have done that with few players. I won't be surprised. I am not in the mix there. I don't know," said Shastri to ESPNCricinfo.

"It's a team that can go the distance" - Ravi Shastri further on MS Dhoni and CSK

"But definitely he thinks in that fashion. When you look at this side now, who looks almost certain to make it to the playoffs and looks extremely dangerous when it comes to the playoffs, two games in Chennai, it's a team that can go the distance. Because it's already settled, if there is any tinkering, it will be because of injury. Otherwise, they've got it right,” he added later.

Talking about Chennai Super Kings, now, they’ll be in action in the tournament in their next match against Delhi Capitals at the home ground MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai today from 7.30 pm.
