Pakistan are gearing up to face arch-rivals India in Melbourne on 23 October 2022. After playing respective warm-up matches, both teams are preparing for their 20-20 World Cup opener. However, Shan Masood is also there getting ready for the tournament. But, on 21 October, he got involved in an unfortunate incident.
During a net session, Shan Masood got hit by a shot from another player, Mohammad Nawaz. It hit so hard that the batter was on teh ground for five-seven minutes. The video also went viral as he got hospitalized for a further check-up and his availability will be decided once he came back from the hospital. Now, an official statement from the Pakistan Cricket Board got surfaced all over the internet.
“He currently is asymptomatic and as concussion, he will be re-tested tomorrow.” - Pakistan Cricket Board on Shan Masood
Speaking of the update from the Board, it reads: “All of Shan Masood's neurological observations are normal. His CT scan only shows superficial bruising where the ball struck him. He currently is asymptomatic and as a concussion, he will be re-tested tomorrow.” So, further tests will happen on Shan Masood before ensuring his availability ahead of the India clash.
Speaking of the incident, his teammate Mohammad Nawaz hit a shot & the ball struck Masood’s head during the net session. Then, Shan Masood was seen having an ice pack on his face. Meanwhile, if he, unfortunately, misses the India match, Fakhar Zaman will have game time in the final playing XI.
Speaking of his recent form, Shan Masood did not have a great T20I tri-series in New Zealand. He only scored 64 runs in four innings, at an average of 16. Still, he could be a vital part of the Men in Green in the World Cup. However, in the warm-up match against England, Masood looked good while opening the innings. He scored 39 runs off 22 balls, including seven fours, at a strike rate of 177.27. Thus, Pakistan will look for a better update regarding him ahead of the mega clash against India.
