Gujarat have been nearly unstoppable in the Indian T20 league 2022 so far. They have won eight out of their nine games, and are currently placed at the top of the points table. There have been numerous instances in this season where the Gujarat-based franchise have snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.

One of the major reasons for their successful run is Rahul Tewatia. The all-rounder has played the role of a finisher to perfection. He has already won several games for the Hardik Pandya-led side. As a matter of fact, their recent encounter against Bangalore saw him play a match-winning innings.

He scored an unbeaten 43 in just 25 balls. However, he was well supported by David Miller, who scored an unbeaten 39 from 24 balls. Both of them have joined hands to win several games for Gujarat in the 2022 edition. Thus, Tewatia spoke about the bond he shares with Miller. He said that the two of them have been teammates in the Indian T20 league for quite a while now.

"I have spent a lot of time with him David Miller, we were together at Punjab for a year, with Rajasthan for a couple of years, so we have a good bonding, we talk about finishing games even in the nets. I have the belief in myself that I can finish games as long as I stay in the middle. You have to finish games, never mind the target. The pitches have been really good, you can chase even 60 runs off the final 5 overs," said Rahul Tewatia during the post-match presentation.

It is to be noted that the 28-year-old won the player of the match award as well. Thus, he drew light on his thought process while finishing games. He also spoke about how he has worked on his own game as well.

"I can't say that I stay cool during chases, but a lot of things will be going beneath, as to how to take it forward, which bowler to target and which areas to hit. I then try and follow the plans. In the death overs, you'd need to play some pre-planned shots, but I certainly look at the field and then look at the ball before hitting. So, if the ball is outside off, I will look to go over the off-side, if it's on the stumps, I play the leg-side shots.

I have bettered my off-side game during this tournament, the bowlers had planned to keep fielders in the off-side, so I knew it I could hit the gaps, I could get the boundaries, I have opened up both sides of the ground now," he added.
