Pakistan are currently hosting New Zealand at home for the two-match Test series. However, before this, they faced humiliation when England whitewashed them at home in a three-match Test series. After that, PCB sacked the former Chairman Ramiz Raja, and appointed Najam Sethi as the new Chairman.
After the England series, Pakistan’s fans were not happy with Ramiz Raja regarding the pitches in the country. In 2022, the Men in Green had the best chance to qualify for the final of the World Test Championship. They had seven Tests at home but failed to win any of them (four losses and three draws). Now, Ramiz Raja came up with some huge remarks regarding his PCB tenure.
“You can't get a bullet-proof car until you face a death threat.” - Ramiz Raja
During an interview with Samaa TV, Ramiz Raja said that he had received death threats during his tenure at PCB. The former PCB Chairman was asked about the 1.65 crore-worth (Pakistan Rupee) bullet-proof car that he used to travel in the country.
He said: “That car is with PCB. I didn't buy that. My successor can also use it. I received death threat. You can't get a bullet-proof car until you face a death threat. That's why I had it. I can't reveal the details about it (the threat). But it has been there since Australia came to Pakistan in March 2022. DIG sahab came to my home, there was a whole report that was made. That's why I bought it.”
Recently, he also slammed PCB for their behaviour with him in a live forum. Ramiz Raja said: "To accommodate one person, Sethi to be precise, they had to change the entire constitution (of the PCB). I have not seen this anywhere in the world. It has been done in the middle of a season when teams are visiting Pakistan. They have changed the chief selector, who had played Test cricket. At 2 am at night, he (Sethi) tweets that Ramiz Raja is gone. This is my playing field. It hurts."
