Carolina Marin is one of the best to have ever touched the badminton racket and her dreams for the Tokyo Olympics faded once she incurred an injury. The Spanish star will make a mark in the arena once again as she has set her aim for the 2024 Paris Olympics. If at all she manages to clinch the gold medal, it will be a great achievement and it might be a great comeback for the badminton star.
The 29-year-old is currently testifying at the BWF World Championships in Tokyo and is setting the tone up for the 2024 mega event. She defeated China's He Bingjiao with sets of 16-21, 21-15, 22-20 and has roared back to form as she marched on to the quarter-finals. The star will now face Japan's Akane Yamaguchi in the quarters. Marin opined to AFP after the match that her self-confidence paved the way for her comeback.
She hinted at her hard work and drew light on her aim to bag the gold at the Paris Olympics. "I don't want to think about the title every day because this is something that is going to happen only on Sunday when you win the last game. I want to push myself as far as I can. I want to give my best in every game that I have to play here and of course, I'm looking forward to playing another quarter-final," she said after the game.
The 2016 Olympic Champion felt motivated when she opined on her comeback and said that she doesn't think about the 2024 Olympics albeit she wants to bag gold. The 29-year-old said that it was mandatory for her to take care of her body and opined that she'll play selective tournaments only.
"I don't want to put pressure on myself to keep this kind of goal in my mind. This is something that is going to happen in two years but it's something that sometimes motivates yourself. We need to keep focusing on what tournaments I should play because to have two serious injuries is really easy to say but really hard to feel," she concluded.
The star was happy with the result at the BWF World Championships and assured to bag one more title to her name in Paris.
