The first or inaugural season of the ILT20 kicked off on 13 January 2023. In the first match, Abu Dhabi Knight Riders took on Dubai Capitals in Dubai. Six different teams are fighting to win this title for the first time.
A total of 34 matches will be played while the tournament will run until 12 February. Meanwhile, there are several players who will look to do well in this league with the bat for their respective teams.

Paul Stirling
This explosive batter from Ireland can become the highest run-scorer in the first season of the ILT20 league. Paul Stirling is representing Abu Dhabi Knight Riders. On 13 January 2023, they played the tournament opener against Dubai Capitals. However, Abu Dhabi Knight Riders lost the match by 73 runs.
But, Paul Stirling notched up this tournament’s first-ever fifty. He scored 54 runs off 38 balls, including five fours and two sixes. He batted at a strike rate of 142.10. But, his performance was not enough to win the match. For Ireland, he has played 121 T20Is so far where he has scored 3181 runs, at an average of 28.65.
Rovman Powell
This all-rounder from West Indies can score the most runs in the first season of the ILT20 league. Rovman Powell is playing for Dubai Capitals. He is the skipper too. However, he led his team to victory in the tournament opener over Abu Dhabi Knight Riders. Rovman won the player of the match award for his all-around performance.
With the bat, he scored 48 runs off 29 balls, including three fours and three sixes. Rovman batted at a strike rate of 165.61. His innings ensured that Dubai reached 187 runs for six wickets in 20 overs. With the ball, he took two wickets for 15 runs in two overs. So, fans can hope that he can continue his good form in the upcoming matches also.
Chris Lynn
This explosive batter from Australia can be one of the players to watch out for in the race of scoring the most runs in the ILT20 league. Chris Lynn is representing Gulf Giants. He will be in action when his team will take on Abu Dhabi Knight Riders on 15 January 2023 in Abu Dhabi. Lynn is coming off with good form with the bat in BBL.
In the ongoing season of that league, Lynn has scored 416 runs in 11 innings, at an average of 41.60. He batted at a strike rate of 141.01 including three fifties. So, fans will hope that Lynn will continue his form in this new league. For Australia, Lynn last played a T20I on 25 November 2018 in Sydney.
