India announce T20 squad for tour of West Indies; two IPL sensations earn their maiden call up

Indian selectors, under the leadership of newly appointed chief selector Ajit Agarkar, announced the T20I squad of Team India for the upcoming West Indies tour. The Men in Blue will be playing the five-match T20I series against the Caribbean side after the conclusion of the two-match Test series and three-match ODI series.

Meanwhile, the highlights of this selection were the two youngsters who amazed everyone with their performances in the Indian Premier League 2023, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tilak Varma. Agarkar-led selection committee picked both the young prospects in India’s squad for the series of the shortest format against West Indies.

Once again, the team will be playing without the veterans including the likes of regular skipper Rohit Sharma and the former skipper Virat Kohli. A lot of cricket experts and fans of the game are also considering it the end of the road for Rohit and Kohli in the T20I cricket.

Star batter Suryakumar Yadav will be there in the role of vice-captain for India in the T20I series on the Caribbean tour. Apart from that, the star MP pacer Avesh Khan has made a return to the team after an injury break. Some of the names who couldn’t make it to the T20I squad are Ruturaj Gaikwad, Deepak Hooda, Rahul Tripathi, Jitesh Sharma, Washington Sundar, and Prithvi Shaw.
