Team India completely outmuscled the hosts West Indies in the fourth T20I of the five-match series. The match was contested at the Central Broward Stadium in Lauderhill of Florida. The hosts’ skipper Rovman Powell won the flip of the coin and decided to bat first. The Caribbean side posted a decent total of 178 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
Middle-order batter Shimron Hetmyer smashed 61 runs off just 39 balls with 3 boundaries and 4 sixes. Apart from him, the number three batter and ODI skipper Shai Hope also contributed with a crucial knock of 45 runs off just 29 balls with 3 boundaries and 2 sixes. Apart from this, most of the West Indies struggled against the Indian bowling attack as none of them couldn’t even cross the individual mark of 20+ runs.
Arshdeep Singh took three wickets for the visitors, while star wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav claimed two. On the other hand, Axar Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Mukesh Kumar also picked one wicket each.
Indian openers pushed West Indies out of the match
While chasing the target, the young opening pair of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill provided a sensational and outstanding start for India. They both stitched a remarkable partnership of 165 runs for the first wicket before Gill fell prey to Romario Shepherd in the 16th over.
Jaiswal played an unbeaten knock of 84 runs off just 51 balls with 11 boundaries and 3 sixes after Gill’s contribution of 77 runs off 47 balls, including 3 fours and five sixes. On the back of these brilliant knocks and strong opening stand, the Men in Blue comfortably chased down the total in 17 overs, scoring 179 runs for the loss of only one wicket.
Eventually, India won by a mammoth margin of 9 wickets to level the series at 2-2 and keep their hopes alive in the series. Young Indian opener Jaiswal won the Player of the Match award for his match-defining knock of 84 runs.
Subsequently, the cricket fans were also overjoyed following this outride victory of Team India in the all-important penultimate clash of the five-match T20I series. They showered the praises on Team India and the star opening pair of Jaiswal and Gill.
