In what seems to be a big setback for the Indian Cricket Team, the senior batter KL Rahul has been ruled out of the upcoming third Test of the five-match series against England. Notably, while announcing the squad for the final 3 Tests against England, the Indian Cricket Board had also stated in the media release, “the participation of Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul is subject to fitness clearance from the BCCI medical team.”

The media reports understand that the veteran Karnataka batter wasn’t completely fit; however, Ravindra Jadeja cleared off the fitness Test for an all-important third Test match of the series against England as the series is currently levelled at the score line of 1-1.

KL Rahul is currently at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for the recovery, with a hope of getting fully recovered for the penultimate Test of the five-match series against England. It will be the second consecutive Test match of this series, which KL Rahul will be missing due to injury concerns.

Indian Cricket Board announce replacement for KL Rahul

Meanwhile, the management has also announced the replacement for KL Rahul and he is none other than the Karnataka youngster Devdutt Padikkal; the latter recently produced a brilliant batting performance, scoring 151 runs in the most recent Ranji Trophy 2024 match against Tamil Nadu, with the Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar being present there to watch the Karnataka vs Tamil Nadu match.

Padikkal also spoke about his comeback to cricket after recovering from the health problems which he went through in the recent couple of months.

“I don’t mind batting at No.3 and I don’t mind opening either. So that doesn’t really make a huge difference. As you play more and more cricket and as you gain experience, at this level you will naturally be able to play more shots because you will be more confident about your areas,” said Padikkal after his brilliant knock against Tamil Nadu.
