India ended the third Test with a good lead. After getting rid of England for a score of 319 runs in the first innings, India pounced on the visiting side with a score of 196/2 at the end of the third day. The home side are currently leading by 322 runs, which is huge. The knock of Yashasvi Jaiswal paved the way for India's domination in the Test.
England started the day with a score of 205/2. The overnight batters Ben Duckett and Joe Root steadied the innings of the visiting side. What followed was an unreal collapse. From 229/2 at one stage, England ended up getting folded to 319 runs. The European side lost their last 8 wickets for just 90 runs. which changed the momentum of the game completely.Â
For the home side, Mohammad Siraj bowled well and claimed four wickets. From the other end, Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja claimed two wickets each. The trio helped India to make a quick comeback into the match. India batted in the 2nd session of the day with a good advantage on their side. With the same confidence, the Indian batters hoped to claim a huge lead.
Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill to India's rescue
However, India did not get as good a start in the second innings, as Joe Root got the big wicket of Rohit Sharma. What followed it was the brilliant partnership between the young batters like Jaiswal and Shubman Gill. The duo posted over 100 runs for the 2nd wicket and helped India to have their command over England in the match.
Jaiswal was the star of the day. The Southpaw played in two different gears. In the first 40 deliveries, Yashasvi scored only ten runs. In the deliveries after it, Jaiswal turned out to be a beast and scored 90 runs in 82 balls to get to his third Test hundred. Due to back pain, Jaiswal returned to the pavilion. Rajat Patidar registered a duck before India ended the day with a good lead.
Here's how the fans reacted to the day's play -
The pitch is completely batting track. I don't know why England couldn't continue the start given by Duckett.
