India is trailing in the five-match series against England by 0-1 after losing the first match by 28 runs in Hyderabad. This is their 4th loss at home since their last series defeat back in 2012 against England. This record might look good on paper, but if you dwell further, you will find that in the last 3 Test matches that India has played at home, they have lost two and managed to draw one out of it.

In England’s second innings in the Hyderabad Test, the Indian bowling looked a pale shadow of itself as they let the opposition make 420 runs on a slow Hyderabad track and lost the 1st Test even after getting a significant lead of 190 runs in the 1st innings.

India’s injury woes

The second test at Visakhapatnam is scheduled to start on 2nd February, and India would want to win the Test at any cost to hold on to their chances of winning the series. But before the 2nd Test, the Indian team faced a double setback as batsman KL Rahul and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja have been ruled out of the upcoming match due to injuries.

While star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja pulled up his hamstring while attempting a run in the 1st Test, KL Rahul complained of pain in his quadriceps. The Indian Cricket Board Medical Team is closely monitoring the recovery progress of both players.

On Tuesday, Jadeja provided an update to his fans through his Instagram profile, sharing a picture of the NCA and stating, "Home for the next few days.

Both Rahul and Jadeja played crucial roles in the first Test, where England made a remarkable comeback to win by 28 runs, taking a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.

In the 1st innings, Jadeja took five wickets and scored 87, while Rahul contributed with a score of 86. The Men’s Selection Committee has included Sarfaraz Khan, Sourabh Kumar, and Washington Sundar in India’s squad. Sarfaraz earns his first national call-up after an impressive run in domestic cricket and the recent India A series against England Lions.
