'Kya hogaya ab?' - Fans react as KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja ruled of second Test against England, Indian Cricket Board announces replacements

In what seems to be a big setback for India after a 28-run loss against England in the first Test of the five-match series, star batter KL Rahul and star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja have been ruled out of the second Test of the series against England. Notably, India and England will take on each other in the second Test of the series at the ACA-VDCA International Cricket Stadium in Vishakhapatnam, starting on February 2, 2024.

“Ravindra Jadeja sustained a hamstring injury during play on Day 4 of the first Test in Hyderabad while KL Rahul complained of right quadriceps pain. The Indian Cricket Board Medical Team is monitoring the progress of the duo,” the Indian Cricket Board said in an official statement through a media release.

Sarfaraz Khan gets maiden Test call-up

Furthermore, the Indian Cricket Board also announced the replacement of Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul in the Indian squad for the second Test of the series against England.

“The Men's Selection Committee have added Sarfaraz Khan, Sourabh Kumar and Washington Sundar to India's squad. Saransh Jain has been named as a replacement for Washington Sundar in the India A squad for the third and final multi-day game against England Lions starting February 1, 2024, in Ahmedabad,” the Indian Cricket Board’s statement added further.

Apart from that, the Board also cleared about the availability of Avesh Khan in the Indian squad for the second Test. The pacer will be traveling with his domestic state team Madhya Pradesh for the Ranji Trophy. He will be asked to join the squad by management as per the requirements.
