Senior men’s selection committee of the Indian Cricket Board named the star Madhya Pradesh batter Rajat Patidar as a replacement for the former skipper Virat Kohli; he will be a part of the Indian squad for the first two Tests of the five-match Test series against England. At the same time, a lot of cricket fans were expecting a maiden Test call-up for the star Mumbai First Class batter Sarfaraz Khan.
In the same line of events, the former Indian all-rounder and now commentator Irfan Pathan took a stand for Sarfaraz Khan in a cryptic X-post. In this post, Pathan shared Sarfaraz’s stats without mentioning the latter’s name anywhere in the post.
“If you are him and not getting selected for test cricket, what are you thinking,” wrote Irfan Pathan in a post on his official X-handle (formerly Twitter).
Here’s a look at the X-post of Irfan Pathan for Sarfaraz Khan:

Speaking of the upcoming assignment for India, Rohit Sharma’s men are all set to take England in the five-match Test series; both teams will lock horns in the first Test of the series tomorrow, on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket in Hyderabad.
Coming back to Sarfaraz Khan, he has played 44 First Class cricket, since he made his debut in the format in domestic cricket. Batting in 65 innings of these 44 matches, he has scored 3757 runs with an amazing average of 68.20, hitting 13 centuries and 11 half-centuries. The star middle-order batter has impressed everyone with his brilliant consistency in First-Class cricket while playing for Mumbai.
Sarfaraz has been in the headlines on a couple of occasions after the Indian selectors ignored him while picking the senior men’s Test squad for the assignments in the longest format of the game.
Here’s how fans reacted to Irfan Pathan’s X-post for Sarfaraz Khan:
Rinku Singh and Sarfraz both have better stats than Rajat Patidar but Patidar got selected.🤣 pic.twitter.com/998ev3plu3

Sarfaraz deserves a call ahead of most others. He has been damn consistent and yet ignored for no concrete reason.

Surprisingly nobody asks the selection committee and they don't bother to explain his exclusion!
Hard luck to sarfaraz but Rajat patidar is also a great talent, congratulations to Rajat patidar for maiden test call up 🔥 pic.twitter.com/xnLGU60lec
